Chicago 2010

The time had finally come to take a family trip, just the three of us. What place did we choose? Well, the Windy City of course! It's been years since Paul or myself had been there and we wanted Dylan to check out Shedd's Aquarium.
There was so much to see, things we wouldn't normally see. Lots of different looking fish and aquatic life.

After Shedd's we had the rest of the weekend to explore the city. We didn't really have a plan or have specific places we wanted to see, just walked around and checked out the city. We went to a really cool, really large mall up in Schaumburg, about a half hour North of the city. Our hotel was pretty close to lots of stores and restaurants so that was nice. We walked around the Magnificent Mile quite a bit and checked out some shops.

We took the trolley to Navy Pier. It was a free trolley, and I printed off a map of the stops it made and it was still hard to find. I swear we walked around the same block several times, we'd see it then we'd lose it. We finally found it at a bus stop, but it was full so we had to wait forever for the next one.

Once inside there was this funny little show that had just started. Dylan insisted on sitting down and watching. He was fully entranced the entire time. Once that was done we made our way outside. The Tall Ships Exhibition was going on the same weekend so Navy Pier was packed! It was pretty cool to see those big ships. We took a little boat ride/tour around the Pier which was fun. Dylan was so tired after all that he fell asleep in my arms, so we took a taxi back to the hotel. After he woke up we decided to go check out Millennium Park.
the bean!

Once at Millennium Park we had to check out the bean. We sat and relaxed while Dylan played on the Great Lawn. After that we did some more walking around the park, stopped and got some ice cream, then made our way back. Dylan got easily bored in the hotel room so after we ate supper we decided to walk around the Magnificent Mile some more and did some shopping.

Sunday. Last day in Chicago. Ate breakfast at the hotel, then made the trek back home. Dylan must've been exhausted because he slept pretty much the entire way home. Monday, still on vacation, we went to the beach for the day. Probably the last beach day for the summer. The weather was great all weekend, and all in all a great family vacation.
